Acas has launched new guidance to help employers prepare for potential issues that could arise during the 2016 Olympics Games in Rio de Janeiro next month. Acas advises employers to have a set of simple workplace agreements in place before the games start, to help ensure businesses remain productive while trying to keep staff happy too. Employers should plan ahead and consider having clear rules/agreements in place covering five key issues: flexible working practices, taking time off, absence from work, use of social media and websites and alcohol consumption. The guidance also addresses concerns about the Zika Virus for those employees travelling to Brazil to be involved in the event as part of their duties (e.g. media, marketing, etc..) or using holiday entitlement to watch the games.
