Regulations bring new NMW hourly rates into force on 1 April

The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2017 bring new national living wage and national minimum wage hourly rates into force from 1 April 2017.

The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2017 bring new national living wage (NLW) and national minimum wage (NMW) hourly rates into force from 1 April 2017. The new rates are as follows:

  • The NLW rate for workers aged 25 or over increases from £7.20 to £7.50 per hour.
  • The NMW for workers who are aged 21 but not yet 25 increase from £6.95 to £7.05 per hour.
  • The NMW for workers who are aged 18 but not yet 21 increases from £5.55 to £5.60 per hour.
  • The NMW for workers who are under 18 increases from £4.00 to £4.05 per hour.
  • The apprenticeship rate increases from £3.40 to £3.50 per hour.
  • The rate where an employer provides living accommodation increases from £6.00 to £6.40 per day.
