Acas handled 92,000 EC notifications in 2016/17

Acas has published its 2016/17 Annual Report, which shows that over 92,000 early conciliation notifications were received of which just 17,479 progressed to a tribunal claim.

Acas has published its 2016/17 Annual Report, which shows that over 92,000 early conciliation (EC) notifications were received of which just 17,479 progressed to an ET. 16,924 EC notifications were settled by a COT3 and 57,707 did not progress to an ET. Unfair dismissal was the top issue (30,039) , followed by unlawful deduction from wages (25,414). The report also confirms that Acas conciliated in 744 industrial disputes, with 90% being settled. The Acas helpline answered 887,000 calls. The top three topic categories were discipline, dismissal and grievances; contracts; and redundancies, layoffs and business transfers.
