Acas issue guidance on employees being allowed accompaniment to ‘investigation’ interviews

Acas has issued guidance on employees being allowed accompaniment to ‘investigation’ interviews.

Acas has issued guidance on employees being allowed accompaniment to ‘investigation’ interviews. Acas state that although it’s not a statutory requirement to do so, there are some very good reasons why employers should allow interviewees to be accompanied to an investigation meeting into a disciplinary or grievance matter. The guidance goes on to examine the contractual issues and who to allow as a companion. Acas also set out the benefits of allowing companions, including it helps lend credibility to an investigation, gives staff confidence that their issues are being taken seriously and handled fairly, and that a companion can help an interviewee feel more relaxed and better composed to talk openly on the matter.
