HR Legal Update – Tribunal statistics for April to June 2014 show 70% drop in claims on the same period last year

The Ministry of Justice has published statistics for tribunal claims submitted between April and June 2014.

The Ministry of Justice has published statistics for tribunal claims submitted between April and June 2014. The figures show that the total number of single claims in the employment tribunal were 70% down on the same period last year. The Tribunals Statistics Quarterly report also highlights that the number of single claims received in April to June in 2014 was a third lower than in January to March 2014. Where multiple claim cases are concerned, i.e. those involving more than one claim against the same employer, there were 453 presented in April to June 2014, compared to around 1,500 in the same period in 2013. In the EAT, 1,721 appeals were received in the 2013/14 financial year, against 2,296 in 2013/13, which represents a 25% drop.
