The Ministry of Justice has published its report on Employment Tribunal and EAT statistics for the period 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2012

The Ministry of Justice has published its report on Employment Tribunal and EAT statistics for the period 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2012, including details of compensation awards for successful unfair dismissal and discrimination claims. In 2011/12, the median award for a successful unfair dismissal claim was £4,560. The report also sets out the median awards in successful discrimination claims and the figures will be reported in this month’s All Inclusive email update which will show, among other statistics that the highest median award was £13,505 for sexual orientation discrimination and the highest award was in a race discrimination claim, i.e. £4,445,023 in Michalak v Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
