What is attraction and retention now?

The current job landscape is witnessing a shift towards employee retention as people seek employers who prioritise well-being and work-life balance. Employees, empowered to voice concerns, are disengaging, urging organisations to adapt. Ed Johnson, CEO of PushFar, explores strategies, including shifting priorities, well-being initiatives, and the power of mentoring, to retain a satisfied and motivated workforce.

Now more than ever, there has been a shift of focus from recruitment to employee retention, with more individuals seeking employers who prioritise wellbeing and a good work-life balance. Employees are finding themselves more disengaged then ever, driven by a new sense of empowerment, choice, and courage to voice their concerns or even contemplate leaving, despite the current climate.

Over the last few years, organisations have had to overcome big changes, from navigating the challenges that come with remote work to the latest technological advances. But it’s now more important than ever that organisations adapt to the latest challenges and trends if they want to stay competitive while keeping employees engaged, motivated, and satisfied within their roles. Recent research from online mentoring platform PushFar, shows that over 94% of employees state that they would stay with an organisation for longer if it was investing in their careers, demonstrating just how crucial it is for employers to fulfil their employees needs to retain staff.

In this feature, Ed Johnson, CEO of PushFar, will discuss a variety of strategies on how organisations can adapt its approach to fulfil these increasing employer needs. Ed will discuss:

  • Shifting priorities- Here Ed will discuss what today’s workforce are seeking, and how employers who understand and cater to those needs will win the battle for employee loyalty and succeed in keeping them engaged. Ed will delve into topics such as the onboarding process, open conversations, flexible working and so on.
  • Employee wellbeing initiatives- In this section, Ed will discuss different initiatives that organisations can take to support the wellbeing of its employees such as recognising and rewards, implementing mentoring programs, regular surveys and mental health awareness.
  • Mentoring programs- Expanding on the point above, Ed will look at how mentoring can result in a happier, more motivated workforce and aid in staff retention. This section will explore PushFar’s Reverse Mentoring program and the benefits of learning from new employees, how employers can use mentoring to upskill their current employees and promote from within and the overall benefits of mentoring in general.
