Liverpool Job Surge Highest in UK

Liverpool’s job surge was the highest in the UK last month, with the number of job postings increasing by 58.5%, compared to June 2014.

This is the second consecutive month that the city has seen significant job growth, with May 2015 announcing Liverpool as the city with the highest levels of job growth in England (50.9%), beaten only by Edinburgh on a national scale (which saw 61.2% growth). Latest figures, however, now place Liverpool at the top of the ranks and ahead of the nation’s average job growth of 40.3%.

There has been a marked increase in the number of businesses and recruiters advertising new roles in Liverpool. To complement this, the city also saw a strong month-on-month job growth of 15.9%, with an additional 250 vacancies opening in June 2015, once again signifying rapid and sustained growth.

The UK’s top 5 cities with strongest job growth in June 2015 were:

1. Liverpool– 58.5% growth

2. Edinburgh– 56.2% growth

3. Birmingham – 51% growth

4. Manchester– 49.2% growth

5. London– 37.3% growth

Lee Biggins, Managing Director at CV-Library explains: “It’s great to see continued and sustained job growth in Liverpool, especially considering the time of year. As a nation, job growth tends to slow slightly during the Summer months, so it’s encouraging to see that the increase in Liverpool is still so strong.”

To complement growth figures across Liverpool, the number of job-hunters registering their CVs in the city grew by 15.8% in June 2015, suggesting there are plenty of candidates to fill the new positions.
