Deloitte, the business advisory firm, has launched its 2011 Top Technology Talent Competition seek innovative ideas from university students on how technology can solve a business problem.

The competition, now in its second year, will choose five finalists to present their business plan to a judging panel of technology industry experts. The winner will be able to choose either a £1000 prize or four weeks paid work experience in Deloitte’s technology integration practice. In 2010, Moonwon Lee from Trinity College, Dublin won the competition for her business plan to develop multi-carrier mobile broadband access.

Paul Mordue, Deloitte technology partner said: “Deloitte’s Top Technology Talent competition is all about finding the best ideas from the finest minds amongst the next generation of technology talent. It’s one thing having an understanding of how technology works but quite another understanding how to successfully use it to enhance a business. The competition reflects the kind of challenges that Deloitte’s clients present our technology consulting business with every day.” “The competition is a great way to engage with talented students and I am excited by the ideas they will come up with this year.”

The five best entries will be invited to Deloitte’s London offices in April 2011 to present their idea to panel of industry experts who will determine the overall winner. Last year’s finalists came from University College Dublin, University College London, University of Dundee, and King’s College London. The closing date for entries is 11th March 2011.
