A TUC survey of 2,700 people has found that 30% of requests for flexible working are being turned down while also revealing that flexible working is not available to many workers, particularly in working-class jobs. In addition to one in three flexible working requests being turned down, the survey shows flexi-time is unavailable to 58% of the UK workforce, rising to 64% for people in working-class occupations and 28% say their desire for more flexible hours is one of the main reasons they might look for a new job. The TUC are calling on the Government to make flexible working a day one right that’s available to everyone.
