We are delighted to share with you our next Video interview with Pierre David, HR Director at Decathlon UK, who will be appearing in the August issue of our flagship publication. This is part of our ongoing series of Video Interviews with HR directors in a wide variety of organisations across different sectors and industries.

Pierre has answered six key questions, each designed to gain an understanding of the challenges that HR is facing in this disruptive world and how Decathlon UK is continuously adapting to meet customer needs in the competitive retail space, by being innovative and attracting talented people into the business, developing them to meet both customer and business expectations.

Peter Banks, Founder & Managing Director of theHRDIRECTOR commented: “Following on from the success of our first video interview, I am delighted to hear –  and see – Pierre’s responses to our topical HR-related questions. Pierre has provided us with a terrific insight into his own ‘HR world’, describing the strategies and best practice which is enabling Decathlon to buck the trend in retail, as they continue to develop and expand the business.

Editor of theHRDIRECTOR and its digital platforms, Jason Spiller, interviewed Pierre: “My own experience, before I met Pierre for the interview, typifies why Decathlon is a retailer that is growing, not contracting, like so many on the high street and in retail parks. I love snorkelling and I had bought a face mask called Breatheasy. I wasn’t sure that it was going to be any more than a novelty so, when we went on holiday, I took my old conventional mask and snorkel just in case. I tried out the new set up and it was a game changer, a scuba-style experience in a snorkelling environment. While I was interviewing Pierre, I found out that it was invented by an employee at Decathlon, as is many other sport and leisure items in store. One of Decathlon’s innovative ideas is to give all staff the chance to innovate and invent the things that customers buy. I think that is pretty cool. I hope you enjoy the Video and the interview in the publication.”

This video interview is published online at www.thehrdirector.com and shared on our HRDTV You Tube channel https://www.youtube.com/thehrdirector.
