Wales TUC Cymru has published a toolkit to help union officers and reps to represent members affected by the menopause by recognising and addressing workplace issues that can worsen women’s symptoms. The toolkit explains that in many cases the menopause is still not recognised as a workplace issue by managers. Consequently, many women feel they have to hide their symptoms or only talk about them in a humorous way, meaning many are unable to access the adjustments they need, which in turn means women leaving work due to a lack of support. The practical advice, which can apply to all employers, includes identifying the workplace issues (page 27) and addressing those issues, giving examples of adjustments (page 28).
