Business in the Community and Public Health England have published a toolkit to help organisations support employees in making healthier choices concerning alcohol, drugs and tobacco. The toolkit highlights that alcohol misuse costs the English economy £7.3b each year and an estimated 1.5m people are addicted to prescription and over-the-counter medicines, which can affect performance, concentration or alertness. The toolkit explains: (i) The legal context that will inform the employer’s approach; (ii) How to manage issues arising from the use of alcohol, drugs and tobacco; and (iii) How to monitor and evaluate the impact of the approach adopted.
