EU

The Government has published information for European Union nationals living in the UK, following the triggering of Article 50. The introduction confirms that EU nationals living and working in the UK do not need to do anything as a result of Article 50 being triggered as there will be no change to their rights and status while the UK remains in the EU. It also confirms that the Prime Minister stated in her letter to the President of the European Council that an early agreement should be sought on the rights of UK nationals in the EU, and EU nationals in the UK, on a reciprocal basis. The guidance covers 8 different categories depending on status, e.g. those who have been in the UK for over or less than 5 years, Irish nationals, etc. The guidance will be updated as the EU negotiations progress.
