Tribunal statistics show 3% drop in single claims but 35% increase in multiple claims

The Ministry of Justice has published the tribunal quarterly statistics bulletin for the period April to June 2016. During this quarter:

The Ministry of Justice has published the tribunal quarterly statistics bulletin for the period April to June 2016. During this quarter:

  • ETs received 4,206 single claims (down 3% on the same period in 2015) and 11,637 multiple claims (an increase of 38% in the same period in 2015).
  • 2,209 remission applications were submitted for the issue fee and 621 for the hearing fee.
  • 64% of remission applications for the issue fee were either fully or partially successful compared with over 86% of hearing fee remission applications.
  • The EAT received 970 appeals, down 20% on 2014/15.
  • 84% of claimants were represented by a lawyer at ETs and in the EAT, up from 75% in 2014/15.
