New figures show that Acas’ Early Conciliation service has dealt with over 60,000 cases

Acas, has published its third quarter update on Early Conciliation (anyone thinking of making an Employment Tribunal claim has to contact Acas first) which shows that the service dealt with 60,855 cases from 6 April until the end of December 2014.

Acas, has published its third quarter update on Early Conciliation (anyone thinking of making an Employment Tribunal claim has to contact Acas first) which shows that the service dealt with 60,855 cases from 6 April until the end of December 2014. The total was made up of 58,954 employee notifications and 1,901 employer notifications. The statistics also show that there were 1,600 notifications per week in May-August 2014, increasing to around 1,800 per week in the last four months of 2014. Acas believe that the increase in the last four months largely reflects the impact of recent decisions relating to the calculation of holiday pay as they received around 2,300 notifications covering over 11,000 individuals relating to this type of case between mid-August and the end of December. For notifications between April and September 2014, 23.2% progressed to a tribunal claim, 60.5% did not progress to a claim and 16.3% were settled under a COT3.
