In Royal Bank of Scotland plc v Morris the EAT held that a black employee had been the subject of direct discrimination

In Royal Bank of Scotland plc v Morris the EAT held that a black employee had been the subject of direct discrimination when he complained about his manager’s conduct and a senior manager made a comment based on an assumption that the black employee’s complaint was one of race discrimination. The senior manager’s comment was disparaging in the circumstances and based on a stereotypical view of the person involved. The manager would not have treated a white employee complaining about a black colleague in the same way.
