London drops out of top ten most expensive business travel destinations

Geneva is the most expensive city in Europe for the fourth year in a row, as Swiss cities dominate the top ten. London drops three places this year, down to the sixth most expensive city in Europe for business travel. Geneva is once again the most expensive location in Europe for business travellers according to research by global mobility experts, ECA International (ECA).

Majority of Brits don’t want a job that involves travelling

A third of UK workers would decline an offer that meant they had to travel. New research from CV-Library, the UK’s leading independent job board, reveals that the majority (77.5 percent) of Brits DON’T want a job that involves travelling. In fact, a further 28 percent claim that they would decline a job offer if it meant they had to travel.

Motorists are not the public’s biggest highway grievance

The latest survey from Venson Automotive Solutions reveals that 44 percent of people would back the introduction of a ‘Civility Code' of conduct for motorists *, but car and van drivers are not seen as the biggest culprits when it comes to lacking common courtesy. Cyclists, joggers and smokers were cited as being the top three most discourteous when using public thoroughfares.

Scottish named Britain’s Most Appealing Accent

People across the UK were quizzed over which accent they found to be the most attractive, with 15 percent agreeing that Scottish is the most appealing, followed by Queen’s English (13 percent) and Geordie (13 percent). The least favourite accents were found to be Brummie and Mancunian.

Calls for UBER to “come clean about job losses and drivers’ hours”

In a speech by Tim Roache, General Secretary of GMB, to the Labour party conference yesterday, he called for action not words in light of Uber’s public apology to Londoners. Uber London accounts show that if they've got 40,000 drivers as they claim then they must be working an average of only three or four hours per week says GMB.

TfL refuses to renew UBER’s license to operate in London

In October 2016, the Central London Employment Tribunal ruled in GMB's favour - determining that Uber drivers are not self-employed, but workers entitled to basic workers’ rights including holiday pay, a guaranteed minimum wage and an entitlement to breaks.

Waterloo travel disruption – should businesses dock pay?
