Details of new Data Protection Bill published

The Government has published a statement of intent to proceed the publication of the Data Protection Bill which will implement the EU General Data Protection Regulation in May 2018.

The Government has published a statement of intent to proceed the publication of the Data Protection Bill which will implement the EU General Data Protection Regulation in May 2018. The statement commits to updating and strengthening data protection laws through the new Bill and sets out the Bill’s key measures for data processing including: making it simpler to withdraw consent for the use of personal data, allowing people to ask for their personal data held by companies to be erased and making it easier and free for individuals to require an organisation to disclose the personal data it holds on them.
