UK Visas and Immigration have published a report showing the total number of fines for illegal working given to employers in each region of the UK from 1 January to 31 March 2016. The report, ‘Illegal working penalties: totals for 1 January and 31 March 2016’ shows that during the quarter, 1095 illegal workers were found and 838 penalties were issued, which totalled £14,085,000. London & South East England had the highest number of illegal workers (662) and fines (£7.7m). North East England, Yorkshire & Humberside had the lowest number of illegal workers (55) and fines (£650,00).
