The Government Equalities Office has published guidance for employers on recruiting and retaining transgender employees. The guidance, produced in partnership with Inclusive Employers, is designed to provide employers with practical advice, suggestions and ideas on the recruitment and retention of transgender employees and potential employees. It is a useful guide for the managers of trans staff, as well as for trans staff themselves and aims to help employers comply with the law. The document points out that by following the guidance employers will understand the importance of affording everyone dignity and be better equipped to create a more inclusive culture for all staff.
The aim is to provide summary information and comment on the subject areas covered. In particular, where employment tribunal and appellate court cases are reported, the information does not set out full details of all the facts, the legal arguments presented by the parties and the judgments made in every aspect of the case.
