We’re currently seeking an HR Director to work on site within a state of the art laboratory, which is being set up as part of the UK’s NHS Test and Trace programme. Not only will you be helping the UK to fight against the pandemic, but you will also gain invaluable experience and exposure, to some of the country’s most highly skilled individuals in the scientific community. This represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to not only transform and support the organisation, but also work as an Executive Coach to the SLT and have the chance to make a considerable impact, within the programme and UK history. This is an on-going temporary role that requires a daily on site presence.
The successful candidate will either be local to the Leamington Spa area or be a seasoned interim who is happy to temporarily relocate. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop and implement a workforce strategy in line with the business plan, ensuring plans support the needs of the business and also flexible to cope with sudden changesSit on the Senior Leadership Team and drive forward the people/workforce agenda to ensure alignment to lab strategyResponsible for senior level decision making and day to day management of the HR, Resourcing, Technical Training and Learning teamsEffectively communicate and build relationships and credibility with the SLT and internal and external contactsChampion and lead on ED&I- the lab is a particularly diverse environment and an understanding of this is crucialDefine and manage the employee life cycle and effective workforce planning with the HR teamLead and drive change initiatives and programmes, working with senior colleagues to remove barriers and resistanceInstil a continuous learning culture to promote employee growth, capability and organisational performance, leading the organisation in challenging processes and traditional assumptionsPlan and lead the people activity in relation to a post-Covid strategy in 2022 Specific skills and capabilities: Essential: Commercially minded – able to identify what is required from a people perspective to support and drive the organisation’s strategyOD experience – ability to develop and build high performing teams and create a culture where people thrive and give their bestAbility to actively listen, confidently ask the right questions and share own opinionsProven experience leading and developing a high- performing HR and training functionEffective at building relationships at all levels both internally and externallyProactive in continual organisational and self-developmentAbility to work under pressure, remaining calm, displaying empathy and retaining professionalism at all timesStrong ER skills and knowledge and experience of TUPECIPD qualified Desirable: Experience of working in a laboratory environment, or a large scale factory or distribution centreExperience of working in a progressive public sector organisationScientific background The Leamington Spa Laboratory is a 24/7 operation so the post holder will be expected to work with agility, being ‘on call’ for serious HR matters, as well as potentially spending time coaching out of hours.
