With the new registration number plates being introduced, Amanda Stretton, racing driver, broadcaster and motoring journalist, discusses how this can benefit car buyers:

New 67 plates are entering the market, bringing with them the promise of big car savings for drivers. And as the Government has made a commitment to stopping the production of petrol and diesel cars by 2040, this is likely to be the last generation to buy new fossil fuel cars.

As dealers attempt to boost softening sales, car buyers can expect to see some of the best deals the market has ever seen this September, so it’s a good time to buy if you know what you’re looking for. However, those who are brave and brand agnostic should hold off purchasing a new 67 plate until December because there will be some staggering bargains available as dealers look to shift pre-registered stock.

It is a changing time for the market and with this we’re likely to a shift in the way drivers purchase vehicles, too. We expect the number of drivers choosing personal contract hire (PCH) will rise as dealers start to push these plans to steer clear of the negative rhetoric surrounding personal contract purchase (PCP). Anyone looking to buy a new car should do thorough research online beforehand to ensure they are getting the best purchase plan to suit them.
