ASOS.com, one of Britain’s largest online fashion retailers, has been named the UK’s most sought-after employer – according to the 2018 Top Companies list released today by LinkedIn – moving up from second place in 2017. Contributor Emily Spaven, UK News Editor – LinkedIn.

LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, analysed billions of actions by its 24+ million UK members to compile its third annual list of the Top Companies professionals most want to work for. After a challenging year for the British high-street, significantly fewer high-street retail chains feature on this year’s list; instead, online retailers such as ASOS.com and Amazon have climbed the rankings. Meanwhile, the luxury retail market continues to succeed in attracting the top talent, with brands including Richemont, Kering, Selfridges and L’Oréal making the list.

Despite uncertainty following Brexit, the UK’s financial services continue to be attractive to talent, with Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Barclays and JPMorgan Chase entering the list this year. Four professional services businesses also joined the list for the first time – McKinsey & Company, EY, Accenture, and Boston Consulting – following the fastest growth in business volumes across the sector since August 2015.

“Every year the Top Companies list reminds us how fierce the competition for talent is, and 2018 is no different. We’ve seen that businesses are increasingly using LinkedIn to make themselves as attractive as possible to the top talent, by leveraging their employees as brand ambassadors to convey the most authentic voice” Emily Spaven, UK News Editor at LinkedIn, commented.

“Our ASOSers live and breathe our values of authenticity, creativity and bravery in everything they do. It’s equally important for us reflect these through our employer brand, bringing to life our unique culture internally and externally. At ASOS we do things not just to simply tick a box – rather, we genuinely care, we want to do the right thing and see the value in doing so.

You spend a majority of your life at work, so why shouldn’t it be with a company you love, where you believe you’re making a positive difference and feel truly valued?” Holly Middlemiss, Talent Brand & Engagement Partner at ASOS, commented.
