Top Employers Institute today announces its Certified Top Employers for 2022 which includes 84 UK organisations.

Eleven organisations from the UK are certified for the first time, including McLaren Racing, pladis UK (the world’s second largest manufacturer of biscuits, including McVitie’s) and the supermarket chain Lidl Great Britain Limited. Other first-time Certified Top Employers this year include; Ageas UK (insurance), Catalent (delivery technologies), Charles River Laboratories (pharmaceuticals), Computacenter (computer services), EQ (outsourcing), Medtronic (medical devices), Mondelez International (FMCG), and Phillips 66 (energy).

A number of businesses have now successfully achieved Certification for 10 years or more consecutively: AkzoNobel (coatings), Avanade UK (professional services), Bentley Motors (automotive), BAT UK (consumer goods), Chiesi (pharmaceuticals), DHL International UK (logistics), Harrods (retail), HCL Technologies (IT services), IG Group (online trading), JTI UK (consumer goods), Molson Coors Beverage Company (FMCG), PepsiCo UK (FMCG), Rider Levett Bucknall (construction and property consultancy), Saffery Champness (chartered accountancy), Saint-Gobain (manufacturing), Santander UK (banking), Tata Consultancy Services (IT consultancy), Travis Perkins (building supplies), Virtusa UK (IT services), Weightmans LLP (law firm) and Whitbread (hospitality).

To achieve Top Employer Certification, participating organisations are assessed by Top Employers Institute via a rigorous analysis of their HR practices. The HR Best Practices Survey, completed by the HR team, covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics across the business and employee lifecycle, including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being and Diversity & Inclusion. The information is then validated and audited independently to ensure the integrity of the processes and data.

Phil Sproston, Region Manager (UK and Ireland) at Top Employers Institute, said: “Being certified as a Top Employer showcases an organisation’s dedication to a better world of work for their employees, exhibited through excellent HR policies and people practices.

“The latest data from our benchmarking shows how Top Employers in the UK have continued to develop their people practices and are still innovating as the pandemic evolves. In particular, the last twelve months have seen the introduction of new policies in the areas that matter most to employees, particularly in wellbeing and in equity, diversity & inclusion.”

This year, the Top Employers Institute Global Certification Programme has certified 1,857 Top Employers in 123 countries and regions across five continents. To be eligible for participation, organisations must have at least 250 local or 2,500 international employees, as well as advanced, formalised HR practices.
